About

I am an archaeologist, erstwhile lecturer, and writer.  My main topics of research cross the boundaries of the archaeology, history and geography of the late Anglo-Saxon and early medieval periods in England, in particular fortifications (burhs), towns and administrative history.

This blog is essentially a means whereby I can make available the papers covering these themes, which have appeared in various journals, as downloadable pdf files.

I have also been a professional photographer, and have had numerous exhibitions of my photographs and photo-collages over the years.  See my pages on the Flickr website for this -

  1. Dear Joao

Thanks for your note. Glad you’ve reached me here. I can only suggest you look at the archaeological bibliography at http://www.biab.ac.uk , and go from there. Best wishes – Jeremy
